Parent Assist Module Update:
NEW The Fairport Harbor School district has implemented and rolled out the Parent Assist Module to all their students and families to begin using in January 2007. Fairport Harbor worked with LGCA to create procedures for start up of PAM. It was very important to check the sibling records. In order to insure that the siblings were accurate they had to double check the spelling of student addresses, phone numbers and apartment buildings were accurate. Once that was done then LGCA did a mass sibling add. Then they double checked to insure that they were ready for the creation of parent and student accounts.
While they were cleaning their data, Fairport Harbor introduced the TAM grade book this fall to every teacher who posts their grade book to PAM. Now students and parents can view students progress immediately.
Once the above was completed LGCA mass added one Parent Account for each family and every student received an account. During the creation of accounts we LGCA and the district sat down to determine what information would be available to the parents and student. They received a file to use for a mail merge to notify parents and students of their account name and password.
To learn more of the procedures please look at the Parent Assist Startup Procedures Document....
The following districts are interested in using PAM:
Beachwood, Cardinal, Chagrin Falls, Painesville Township, and Warrensville
Several school districts piloted the Parent Assistant Module in FY06. The pilot was a success. Parents were able to view student demographics, emergency contacts, attendance, discipline, student historical records, test scores, schedules, grades, and if teachers used the TAM module grade book they could set flags to allow parents to view their students progress directly from their grade book! That's instant student progress reporting!
In June 2006, the LGCA General Assembly approved an FY07 fee schedule for districts to begin using Parent Assist Module. The fee covers the costs to support PAM. Based on the number of districts using PAM will determine the fee. The more districts participating in PAM reduce the cost for support, which reduces the costs to the districts. click here for PAM Fees
